FSU announces national search for Assistant Vice President for Safety and Chief of Police

Florida State University has announced a national search for the position of Assistant Vice President for Safety and Chief of Police.

The Chief of Police is entrusted with the leadership and day-to-day management of all law enforcement, public safety and security operations for Florida State University. They will have ultimate authority over all law enforcement operations and public safety services throughout the university and the satellite campus in Panama City, Florida.

The university has retained the search firm SI Placement to assist in the recruitment of its next Chief of Police. The search committee, chaired by Dr. Patricia Warren-Hightower, Professor and Director of Undergraduate Studies in the College of Criminology and Criminal Justice, has developed a position advertisement and is now accepting applications.

The committee anticipates conducting interviews and community forums during the spring semester. The campus community will be updated as the search progresses so there is ample opportunity for stakeholders to observe and interact with candidates during the interview process.

The FSU Police Department is a fully accredited law enforcement agency of nearly 80 sworn officers and is responsible for law enforcement, campus access and security services, emergency management, and transportation and parking services on campus properties.
